Rwanda is known as the land of a thousand hills, boasting a climate and topography ideal for cultivating high-quality coffee. After the 1990 genocide, the population found hope for the future in specialty coffee plantations. Thanks to foreign development organizations, aid arrived in Rwanda to support coffee production as a driver of the economy.
By purchasing this coffee, we are all contributing to the breast cancer prevention project that Mare Terra (our specialty coffee supplier) is carrying out in Rwanda. Uruzi is part of the coffee lots produced at the Muzo washing station by Emmanuel Rusatira (Baho Coffee), located in the Gakenke coffee-growing region.

Emmanuel Rusatira is the founder and owner of Baho Coffee, with extensive experience in the coffee sector, acquired during 15 years working for a coffee exporting group in Rwanda. In 2016, he decided to embark on his own project with the goal of establishing washing stations in various regions of the country, thus offering a range of unique profiles that reflect the diversity of Rwanda. Currently, Baho Coffee operates 12 washing stations across the country, guaranteeing the high quality of its products through a controlled process for the coffee cherries.

The name “Baho” comes from a Rwandan expression that symbolizes “to have life, to be strong, and to overcome adversity,” values ​​with which Emmanuel deeply identifies. After years of effort and sacrifice, he managed to get ahead alongside his family, and now, as an entrepreneur, he works closely with coffee farmers to empower them and continuously improve the quality of coffee in his country.

The washing process enhances the true character of this coffee, allowing the purity of the bean to express itself. This reveals the complexity of its growing conditions: an authentic specialty coffee flavor.
