Guatemala – Black Mountain
Black Mountain is a specialty coffee exported by a small family business that comes from the coffee-growing region of Cobán in Guatemala. This family exporter has more than 25 years of experience working in coffee production.
Dark chocolate, hazelnuts, lemon aroma, creamy and clean cup.
In the coffee-growing region of the Meseta de Fraijanes, which is characterized by being one of the regions producing high-quality coffees in the country, they have their headquarters and their dry mill, for the preparation of their coffees and micro-lots. Its mission is to receive Guatemalan specialty coffee of the highest quality from the best producers, to be the first option for its customers. Its vision is to develop long-term relationships with producers who have adequate maintenance, harvesting, and processing practices, which allows them to position themselves in the main consumer markets for differentiated coffees.
This coffee has been grown in the Huehuetenango area, characterized by being the first coffee-growing region in the country. Additionally, it is one of Guatemala’s three non-volcanic regions, as well as its highest and driest cultivation, making it one of the best for coffee production. The hot air currents arise from the Tehuantepec Plains, in Oaxaca, Mexico, and mix with the fresh air that descends from the Cuchumatanes Mountains, creating a microclimate protected from frost and allowing the cultivation of coffee up to 2,000 meters above sea level.
It should be added that geographical conditions help create exceptional coffees with distinctive acidity and fruity flavors.
Black Mountain is a coffee made up of three very common varieties in this area: Bourbon, Catuai, and Caturra. The Bourbon variety gives it body and chocolatey flavors, and the Catuai variety gives it flavors of nuts, hazelnut, and creaminess. Caturra is a natural mutation of the Bourbon variety, providing sweetness, citrus aromas, and balanced acidity.
It is ideal for Italian preparations, for espresso, and with milk.
