Ethiopia – Malumu
The Sidamo region covers a large area in southern Ethiopia extending across the fertile highlands south of Lake Awasa in the Rift Valley. It is made up of more than 20 different administrative areas, or woredas, with different microclimates and altitudes; Consequently, there are a wide variety of grades and cup profiles that end up labeled Sidamo.
Within the Sidamo region, we find the Guji area, and its coffees are characterized by their notes of white flowers and refreshing fruit. In this region, they grow wild and this causes tensions between collectors and miners in the area. These beans are of the most typical Ethiopian variety, Heirloom, which grows under shade. This contributes to less water being used for its growth and development. This excellent and acidic Ethiopian coffee is characteristic for its unique and exquisite flavor, accompanied by a lot of body.
The specialty coffee process was started by two coffee-producing brothers in the Bensa area, who today have their farms and work with other coffee growers in the same area. The harvest normally begins in December and lasts until February
The notes that we can find in this coffee are dark chocolate, caramel, and hints of peach, with a creamy and sweet body.
Ideal for filter preparations, cold brew (filter with cold steeping), espresso, and moka pot.
