El Salvador – Vulcano

Having grown, processed, and exported some of the best coffees in the country for over a century, this coffee is made by a family-owned exporter. The Apaneca-Ilamatepec region, known for its exceptional soils, microclimates, and ideal environment for growing coffee, is where the main activities of this group are located. El Salvador has some of the best coffee producing regions in the world and Vulcano is a coffee that will not leave you indifferent.

The natural process is by which the beans have been dried, consisting of leaving the coffee cherry, once collected, on beds to dry and ferment in the sun. It is a process in which you have to be very careful since poor fermentation can ruin the grain and consequently its flavor.

Vulcano is a coffee made up of three varieties that grow in the Apaneca-Ilamatepec area: Bourbon, Catuai, and Caturra. The Bourbon variety is the most widespread and gives it body and chocolatey flavors, with intense aromas. The Catuai variety adds flavors of dried plums, hazelnuts, and creaminess. Caturra is a natural mutation of the Bourbon variety, providing sweetness, citrus aromas such as green apple, and balanced acidity.

It is ideal for Italian, espresso, and filter preparations.
