Colombia – Laguna

This Colombian specialty coffee is made up of a selection of bean varieties such as Caturra, Colombia, Castillo, and Cenicafé, collected from thirty-seven coffee-growing districts located in the Nariño region. This coffee region is ranked ninth in Colombia for its dedication to the production of this fruit.

The Caturra variety coffee bean is distinguished by its acidity and low or medium body. It has less clarity and sweetness than its parent, Bourbon. Coffee plantations of this bean were first developed in Brazil, and these small trees can be found in Colombia, Costa Rica, and Nicaragua.

On the other hand, the Castillo variety bean has been created as a Catimor hybrid, more resistant to rust, does not need fungicides, and allows farmers to ensure a stable harvest. At the same time, the Cenicafé variety is also a hybrid that is more resistant to rust diseases and has a similar cup profile to the Castillo variety with notes of cocoa, honey, and hazelnut.

The Colombia bean variety offers a flavor in the cup with notes of vanilla, with a sweet and balanced finish in the mouth. It has a medium-high acidity with a caramel and chocolate fragrance.

Thanks to a medium roast given at Camden Coffee Roasters, a fairly soft body and bitterness are achieved, and the result is a clean and sweet cup.

Its intense aroma of milk chocolate and orange makes it an ideal drink for both Italian and espresso, pairing very well with milk.
